Project Objectives
Develop cost-effective pieces that clearly communicate issues in which the Brampton West community and the Green Party share concern.

Target Audience
The constituents of Brampton West, and voters of Ontario.

Concept
Connect the Green Party to the Brampton West community quickly and effectively. The message had to be relevant and understood immediately, as these cards would be delivered to passersby on the street.

I decided to take the direction of asking a simple question with an answer that was as obvious as possible. That “obvious” answer would coincide with the Green Party platform.

Design Issues
The biggest challenge was in understanding the approaches other local political candidates were taking to “Green” issues, so that I could present this piece as a breath of fresh air—so to speak.

Design Process
For research, I quickly made myself interested in the various party canvassers that came to my door or called my house in order to ask them questions and get their ideas.

Eight topics in all became known that could be presented with vigour. All topics were designed with the intention that they could be used for both Brampton West, or across Ontario if necessary. The final decision was to focus on one issue: The closure of the Peel Memorial Hospital.

The colour palette was kept to the standard Green Party colours for maximum recognition of the party, and visibility of the message.

Outcome/Results
While the Green Party did not earn a seat this time, this piece proved to be useful for informing the people of
Brampton. It was also a catalyst in putting the defending candidate on the defensive regarding the closure of the Peel Memorial Hospital.
